Right Here
Play Reading
original script written by Yvonne Plowright
revised version by Yvonne Plowright & Pamela Nomvete
creative consultant Andrew Togobo
Right Here is a play that is loosely based on Pamela Nomvete’s book which talks about her experience as a woman born of exiled South African
parents, going for the first time to her country of origin to vote; signifying an end to the old regime of Apartheid and establishing ANC
government.
Pamela became a house hold name for playing the role of Ntsiki in the popular South African Soap Opera Generations because it represented the
new South Africa at the time. Her on screen character was a successful and confident corporate icon, a force to be reckoned with in a male
dominated world and therefore gained Pamela entry into the hearts of the South African people as she battled along with every other South
African, to find her identity.
Although the apartheid regime has fallen and segregation has been abolished it still lives on in the minds of its victims.
Motivation is the key to Africa’s growth. Pamela hopes Right Here encourages the next person that they have the tools they need to succeed within them.
