  Verona Road IYT Cast

Bamshad Abedi–Amin Laurence
Bamshad Abedi-Amin began acting in 2005 by attending various drop-in sessions available to community youth. He came to Intermission two years ago because of a passion for Shakespeare which was not met by any other of the crop in sessions available to young people. He was on the Royal Court ‘Super Group’ following on from the Young Writer’s Programme where he is continuing to nurture his playwriting talents. Found representation after IYT’s production of ‘Wasted’, which lead to his debut TV work as an actor this year. Amin is an avid filmmaker, and is developing a low budget feature film for production in the summer of 2011. He is a founding cast member of the OutHouse Collective theatre ensemble, the artists in residence at the Roundhouse in Camden. They were chosen to represent London in the ‘Contacting the World’ theatre festival this year. Amin loves London.

Stephanie Badaru Teresa
Stephanie enjoyed drama at school and went on to study performance and film studies at college. Having performed as Calpurnia in our last production ‘Wasted’ Stephanie was invited to join the cast of ‘Twelve Angry Women’ which ran at the Landor Theatre. Her passion at present is in theatre performance; with an eye to film making in the future. Stephanie always gives a brilliantly focused performance.

Hoda Bentaher Tibs
Hoda always enjoyed drama at school and appeared in ‘The Beggars Opera’ and The Crucible . In our last production ‘Wasted’ Hoda played Cassie (Cassius ) and through this was offered professional representation with Diamond Management. Now a professional actress, Hoda played the lead in ‘Sixteen’ by Veronica……. and has played a featured part in BBC’s TV programme ‘Casualty’. We are delighted that Hoda is still a member of IYT because of who she is and also because her portrayal of Tibs (Tybalt) is electrifying.

Tammi Blake St Louis Capri
Tammi auditioned, was successful, and is now studying theatre at the Brit School. She had no experience of drama before coming to IYT two years ago and having worked under the direction of Darren Tammi has come to understand her craft and thoroughly enjoys the process as much as the performance. Playing In ‘Wasted’ last year and again as Capri in ‘Verona Road’ Tammi is well on her way to a future in the arts.

Laura Carol Chorus
Laura attends Barbara Speake Stage School. She has appeared in Disney Chanel Christmas Carols and a promotion for ‘High School Musical’. She has performing regularly in school shows and pantomimes. She has also modeled for Zoe 101 and Mini Boden and Marks and Spencer. Laura is the youngest in the cast but has really enjoyed learning from IYT.

Bobbi Chatterton Patrice
Bobbi has performed in Disney channel commercials and modeled for Hannah Montana magazine, Miss Sixty, Matalan. At school she performed in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Bugsy Malone’ but this is my first major performance outside school.

Tosin Cole Romeo
Tosin was introduced to theatre through Intermission. With his natural aptitude for stage it was quickly recognized that acting was to be his future career path. Following his comedic performance in ‘Wasted’ last year he was signed by Diamond Management and has since gone on to perform in plays outside Intermission. He can currently be seen as a lead in the BBC’s television drama ‘EastEnder’s’ ‘E20’ and is at present filming for BBC’s drama ‘The Cut’. Here as Romeo we see him bringing sensitivity to the stage in a captivating and charismatic performance.

Kumi Dhannie JB
Since the age of ten Kumi always enjoyed acting as a hobby. he was in all school plays and was always the first to sign up for drama. He didn't realise how much he loved acting until he was 16 when he joined Bluesky in Kilburn where he had the opportunity to perform in several plays and short films. Still hungry for more Kumi joined IYT in 2008. During that same year he was cast for a musical with Granville South Kilburn. At the present time Kumi writes and film his own comedy sketches.

Ruth Nyanti Juliet
Ruth had had no experience of drama before coming to Intermission. However her passion and aptitude for performance has gained her a place at the Brit School studying theatre. In IYT’s production ‘Wasted’ she played the loud mouthed Jamie Cobbler, so playing Juliet will show what a versatile young actor she is.

Ayo Onajobi Capo
Ayo was introduced to acting through Intermission Theatre. He had been encouraged to come as he is a poet wanting to develop ways to communicate with an audience. Since coming to Intermission he has enrolled at Newham College in a performing arts course. Ayo plays the part of Capo the head of the Capulet family.

Daniel Opaleye Paris
Daniel is currently studying theatre at the Brit School and plays Paris in this production. He has been part of a young musical theatre company for two years performing at the Edinburgh Festival. He has recently been cast as a minor role in a 1212 movie ‘Believe’. Daniel is also part of the Twist & Pulse dance company which specialize in street dance, a taste of this will be seen in ‘Verona Road’.

Dandave Roach Benvolio
Dandave has performed in two showcases in Blackheath and Greenwich Theatre. He has completed a performing arts course, level two at Lewisham College; with distinction. He is continuing at college at performing arts level three. This is Dandave’s first performance with IYT and seeing him as Benvolio we see that the stage is his home.

Eddie Thompson Mercutio
Eddie’s theatre debut was in IYT’s last production ‘Wasted’. He played a bullied and troubled young person who spoke little. Eddie gave such a charismatic performance that audiences were transfixed by his characterization and focus. Here as Mercutio he is able to show us the full rein of his talent with this exuberant and well crafted performance.
